Lemnos
Description
Lemnos is a Greek island in the Aegean Sea, with a wide sheltered bay, just under 100 kilometres from the Gallipoli peninsula. In 1915 it was used as a mounting base for both the naval assault on the Dardanelles and the Gallipoli landings, and it subsequently served as the site for the logistical installations - such as hospitals, supply depots and rest camps - that supported the land campaign.
