East Timor
Description
East Timor comprised the eastern half of the island of Timor. During the 19th century and after WW II it was under Portuguese control; in 1975 it was incorporated into Indonesia; it gained independence on May 20, 2002. The place name 'East Timor' was replaced by 'Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste' following independence.
