Oslo
Description
Founded by King Harald Hardraade in the 11th century. The city was destroyed by fire in 1624; it was rebuilt at the nearby Akershus fortress, which had been built ca. 1300. The city grew during the 19th century and after World War II; it has absorbed several neighboring towns.
