Bowden, Timothy Gibson 'Tim'
Collection relating to Mr Timothy G. Bowden, of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), whilst working as a war correspondent in Vietnam in 1965-66. Bowden's ABC position at that time was a Talks Officer based in Singapore.
Wallet 1 of 1 - comprises an original ten page typed letter written in 1966 by Tim Bowden to his parents, John and Peggy Bowden, living in Hobart. Bowden's letter describes his trip from Saigon to Danang as well as his experience attending a 24 hour patrol with American Marines to record actuality for a radio documentary which was later made. He also reflects on the effects of the war on the Vietnamese people. A recently typed transcript of the letter is also provided. The collection also includes two original press passes issued when Bowden first went to Vietnam. One press pass was issued by the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam), and the other by the United States Military Assistance Command, Vietnam. Both passes include a passport size black and white photograph.
