Description
A water point. This photograph had the following caption in Phillip Schuler's "The Battlefields of Anzac": "New Zealanders and Maoris at the Famous Well, No 2 Post. Over 20,000 British, Australasian and New Zealand troops and 4000 mules were supplied with water from this well daily during the fight for Sari Bair ridge." Phillip Schuler. Identified is probably Charles Bean, the Australian Official Correspondent (centre, back to camera).
