Description

A propaganda newspaper produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. The item is written in Japanese and was distributed to Melanesia and the Netherlands East Indies. An English translation of the text is attached. The purpose of this leaflet was to provide information on the war and news from the homefront. This issue is dated on 9 September 1943. It reports the death of Shimazaki Tôson, a famous poet and writer, the Allied air raids on the northern islands of Japan, the abandonment of Kiska, the air attack on Wewak, the bombing of oilfields in Borneo and the surrender of Italy after the defeat in Sicily.
