Description

A propaganda newspaper produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This item is written in Japanese and was distributed to Bougainville, Huon Peninsula, Rabaul Area and Choiseul (Lauru). It is accompanied by an English translation of the text. This issue is dated 1 November 1943 and covers new wartime administrative measures, the warning given by an Army spokesperson about the gravity of the war, the sinking of Fuji Maru and the damage to Kamo Maru caused by the Allied Forces, the repeated bombing of Rabaul by the Allies, air attacks on Japanese positions in Ternate and Pomelaa, the situation on the Huon Peninsula and the Allied offensive in Mono, Choiseul and Bougainville. It also reports on the Three Power Conference between the US, the UK and Russia, the battle between the Nazis and the Allies in Italy as well as the difficulties faced by the Germans in the Crimea, the Dnieper Bend and surroundings.
