Nihongun shôhei shokun [To officers and men of the Japanese Army].
Description
A propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This leaflet is written in Japanese and was distributed to Melanesia and the Netherlands East Indies. An English translation of the text is attached. The message reports the capture of the Vogelkop and Sabsapor by the Allied Forces. It states that the New Guinea campaign has virtually come to an end with the Allied victory, and continuing resistance by the remaining Japanese forces will be useless because it can no longer affect the course of the war. The message also mentions that some of the Japanese positions on islands have been by-passed and their garrisons are trapped without any hope of receiving supplies. The leaflet includes a map covering Dutch New Guinea, the Philippines and the islands mentioned in the message.
