Senyû ni tsugu [To my fellow soldiers].
Description
A propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This leaflet is written in Japanese and was distributed to the Philippines, Central Pacific, China-Hong Kong, Manchuria and Melanesia. An English translation of the text is attached. The leaflet takes the form of a letter supposedly written by a Japanese prisoner of war. It details the losses suffered by the Japanese in Asia and the Pacific, including the recent recapture of the Philippines by the Allies. The leaflet also reports on the situation in China which is increasingly becoming unfavourable for the Japanese, the bombing of Tokyo by a force of B-29s operating from Saipan and the severance of sea supply lines to the South due to the defeat in the Philippines. The conclusion of the message stresses that the situation will become even harder in 1945 and the Japanese will certainly be defeated in the end. 150,500 of them were printed. 100,000 of these leaflets were dispatched to Lae on 4 February 1945 and 50,500 to Torokina on 4 February 1945.
