History / Summary

The Multinational Security Transitional Command, Iraq (MNSTCI, pronounced 'minsticky'), based in the Baghdad International Zone, was given the task of rebuilding the Iraqi armed forces in the wake of the second Gulf War, using staff drawn from the Australian, US, British and Danish military services. Ten officers and two warrant officers represent the standard size of the ongoing Australian commitment, Major Ron Armstrong's service with the unit being from February to July 2005. The badge was worn on the left shoulder of the uniform by all personnel as distinguishing unit insignia. Australians serving with MNSTCI wore the standard Australian Army DPDU shirt and trousers.
