Goodell-Pratt 1 inch Micrometer
Carboard box containing a Goodell-Pratt number 112, 1 inch micrometer, lock nut spanner and information sheet. The box has a label attached with contents and production information.
Wartime version of a 0 to 1 inch micrometer. During the war, there was a high demand for micrometers and other specialised tools for the military. Many pre war tools which had been produced by Goodell-Pratt were not made during the war, as they directed their production towards the war effort. For items that continued to be made, such as this micrometer, small changes were made to production to save on time and materials. In this instance the lock nut and ratchet mechanism were removed from the design and the decimal equivalents were etched on the barrel instead of the frame. The micrometer comes with a spanner for the lock nut, even though this verison of the micrometer does not have a lock nut.
