Patriotic jigsaw : 'The Air Force - Planning the Flight'
Rectangular landscape format 180 piece jigsaw puzzle entitled 'The Air Force - Planning the Flight', featuring five parked camouflaged Avro Ansons at an air force base behind a group of pilots and a senior officer consulting a map. A further Anson is in flight behind the group. Supplied with the backing card of the original packing envelope, with a small black and white image of the completed puzzle affixed with the words 'EMPIRE JIG SAWS'.
History unknown. Typical patriotic Australian-produced child's jigsaw puzzle from the late thirties to mid forties period. These were supplied in an outer envelope of the same size as the completed jigsaw, often with a small image of the finished picture on the reverse of the envelope. The 'wave' style of die-cutting is typical of the period, and of John Sands jigsaws from the mid 1930s to the mid 1950s.
