British notice board sign for 'Chateau Wood Road' with grid reference from a trench map (most likely Sheet 28). For 20th Battalion War Museum'.

History / Summary

The sign was erected near Menin Road, where Chateau Wood was turned to muddly desolation during the fighting in 1917. A small plaque on the sign records that Sergeant Wally Brown, who would win the Victoria Cross in 1918, was among those who later recovered it.
