Description

French Pattern 1882 Infantry Officer's sword and scabbard. The hilt has an elaborately engraved three bar half basket guard and back strap with a floral and dragon design. The grip is black bone bound with silver wire. A black leather sword knot is attached to the guard. The straight double edged blade has a single fulller on each side for nearly the full length. The ricasso is etched with a floral design on both sides and the right side has a banner with H.FAURE LE PAGE 8 RUE RICHELIEU.PARIS. The nickel plated steel scabbard has a single loose ring on a band 85 mm from the throat. There is a light brown leather cover over the scabbard which is missing the end cap and has two press studs around the locket.

History / Summary
