Description

On 17 June 1968 HMAS Hobart was hit by air-launched Sparrow 3 missiles mistakenly fired by an F4 Phantom jet of the US Seventh Airforce. The ship was badly damaged and Ordinary Seaman RJ Butterworth and Chief Petty Officer RH Hunt were killed. Seven members of the crew were wounded.
