Film

As part of the project, we have digitised hundreds of film reels mainly in amateur movie formats. This means that many of the newly preserved films are unofficial and includes home movies, off duty sightseeing and private records of peacekeeping missions and operational activities.

These films give us a personal insight into the life and experiences of people in conflicts and civilians.

Watch the Vietnam village search DPR/TV/541

This film shows Australian soldiers searching a Vietnamese village for Viet Minh soldiers in 1967. Later, the soldiers give the villagers food and other supplies, and play movies on a rigged-up screen for the kids.

The film is available as a digitised file for the first time as part of the Memorial's new digital collection.
