Photos

The Memorial has an extensive collection of photographs and photographic material. The project is digitising photographic negatives made of glass, nitrate and acetate that are at risk of deterioration.

Newly digitised negatives include a great variety of images include portraits, group images, and informal photos as well as covering activities such as embarkation, training, nursing, the munitions industry and civilians in wartime.  Photographs digitised by the project cover over 100 years of conflicts involving Australia, from 1910 to 2001.

These photographs give us details and insight into the experiences of soldiers, nurses and civilians in wartime Australia.
