Description
HMAT Kyarra (A55) alongside a quay. Built in 1903 for the Australian United Steam Navigation Co. Ltd, the Kyarra was requisitioned and converted into a hospital ship in November 1914. In March 1915 the Kyarra was converted into a troop transport. After being released from Commonwealth control in January 1918, the Kyarra was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine in the English Channel near Swanage on 26 May 1918.
