Description

Commissioned in 1903, the ship 'Kyarra' was used for transport of goods and people across the world. In 1914, she was fitted as a hospital ship and she was painted white with a red cross on her hull. The "Kyarra" then operated as a hospital ship transporting Australians back from the First World War from November 1914 to March 1915. After service in many parts of the world she was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel on 26 May 1918.
