Description
This honour was awarded for the defence of Ambon, in the Netherlands East Indies, where Australian troops, as part of Gull Force, fought alongside Dutch troops against the invading Japanese. Gull Force was divided into two main areas: one at Laha and the other in the northern part of the Laitimor Peninsula, near the town of Ambon. The battle honour is unique to the 2/21st Infantry Battalion.
