This list has been created to provide information about people of Indigenous descent who enlisted for service in conflicts including the Boer war, The First World War, the Second World War, the Korea War, and the Vietnam War.
This acknowledgement of service is part of the ongoing process of recognition and reconciliation.
For the purposes of this list, the term Indigenous is understood as referring to the Indigenous peoples of territories administered and/or occupied by Australian forces: Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islanders, South Sea islanders and Papuans.
The inclusion of words, terms or descriptions from historical records reflects the social and political attitudes of the period in which they were written. The memorial apologises for any distress that may occur.
