View down Anzac Parade

This view puts the Australian War Memorial in perspective, and is also one of the best views in Canberra! It looks down Anzac Parade, the wide avenue lined with smaller memorials to various conflicts. In the distance you can see both Old and New Parliament House. In fact, they line up perfectly! This is no accident. Canberra is a planned city, which means the layout of streets and urban features is carefully designed. It also means that, conversely, the people working in Parliament House can look out and see the Memorial.
