Australian War Memorial Wireless Service
Terms and conditions of use
The Australian War Memorial (the 'Memorial') offers visitors free wireless network access throughout the building and surrounds. To access the wireless service, you need to bring a device that is capable of connecting to a wireless network.
Please note that the Memorial does not guarantee to support wireless access with any specific software program or device.
Wireless service
The wireless service allows you to use your laptop computer, smartphone or tablet to access the Internet over an IEEE 802.11g, 802.11n or 802.11ac wireless interface at a designated wireless coverage area ('hotspot').
The wireless service is provided without any guarantee that it is continuous or fault-free.
To use the wireless service, you must comply with the Memorial's Acceptable Use of Information and Communication Technology policy: We may exercise, at our discretion, any of the rights specified in the Acceptable Use Policy.
You are automatically disconnected from the service when you:
- have been logged on for 24 hours
- leave a wireless coverage area
- remove or disable your wireless LAN access card or
- power down your device.
Your session will reconnect without the need to log back in if you re-enter a wireless coverage area, re-enable your wireless access, or power up your device within 24 hours.
After 24 hours you will need to log back in to the network using the credentials sent to you by email. Your credentials will expire in 7 days and you will need to register again to gain wireless access.
Connection speeds are limited to 1 Mbps for guest users. Data downloads are monitored and your internet access may be restricted if you reach levels that incur undue cost to the Memorial.
Technical support
The Memorial does not provide technical support for your personal laptop or mobile device, nor assistance to configure your equipment for wireless access. The Memorial does not take any responsibility for any changes that you make to your equipment settings to access the Service.
If you experience a problem with the service which is not related to your own equipment, please report the difficulty to Memorial staff in any of the Memorial's reading rooms.
Limitation of liability
There are no circumstances in which the Memorial or individual staff members are liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including, but not limited to, loss of data, non-deliveries, transmission of viruses, loss of funds or profits, interruption, or safety of equipment). This is the case no matter how these problems are caused and under any theory of liability, including negligence or anything else that arises in any way out of using the Service, even if the Memorial has advised you of the possibility of such damage.
By proceeding to use the Memorial's wireless service, you agree to these terms and conditions of use.
You are requested not to use the Wireless Service within the Hall of Memory.
