The road to the lines (autumn)
Description
Depicts Australian soldiers traversing the road to the lines in the Somme, France. The landscape is marred by mud puddles and burnt out trees, evidence of the scars of war. Two soldiers make their way along the road on horseback while the remainder progress on foot in trench coats.
