Beaumont has depicted the infantry pendentive and he envisaged the finished mosaic to have a strong vertical line. The pendentive figures of the mosaic commemorates the services of the Second World War. Beaumont worked under Napier Waller and created early designs of the mosaic before his resignation from the project in 1948.
