It comprises of a log book, diary, correspondence, photographs and newspaper cuttings. The diary, January 1942-March 1944, contains detailed entries on his activities during this period. The entries reflect Gilbert's eagerness to fly and a disgruntled attitude when unable to do so. The official correspondence to Gilbert's mother are notification of his failure to return from a mission (1944), information on why he received a Mention in Despatches and the opening of the Runnymede Memorial, England (1952).
