Paulett, Lawrence (Sergeant, d.1912 - d.1945)
Description
Five letters including two which are incomplete, written in 1941 during the Second World War by QX13170 Sergeant Lawrence Paulett. In early 1942 Sgt Paulett was captured by the Japanese in Singapore and in July was transferred as part of B Force to Sandakan POW camp in Borneo. Sgt Paulett died 29 July 1945. The letters were written to his sister and brother-in-law May and Peter Mulligan, and to his nephew Bob Mulligan while he was serving with 2/10 Field Regiment. He writes about such topics as the monotony of camping in a rubber plantation, the humid weather, skin complaints, tigers, snakes and innoculations.
