Informal portrait of 4717546 Private (Pte) Errol Wayne Noack, B Company, 5th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (5RAR), of Adelaide, SA. Pte Noack was conscripted into the army for service in Vietnam and was the first Australian national serviceman to be killed in action during this conflict. Pte Noack was shot during Operation Hardihood on May 24, 1966, after only 10 days service in Vietnam. Pte Noack is pictured here in Port Lincoln, South Australia on his last leave.
