Y.M.C.A. : in Egypt: caring for the convalescents...
Australian First World War poster issued by the National Committee (Army and Navy Department) of the Young Men's Christian Association of Australasia (YMCA). One of a series issued to encourage new subscriptions, it features a montage of twelve black and white photographs promoting the YMCA's work with convalescent soldiers in Egypt. It shows members of the AIF enjoying recreational activities and comfort facilities provided by the YMCA including free concerts, outings and tea rooms. There are also photographs of the Hospital Staff and wards. The poster is printed in black and white with the photographs set against a grey background. Graphic embellishments link each photograph to the words 'In Egypt' at the centre of the poster. Each photograph is numbered and this number has a corresponding description in a key at the bottom centre. The red triangular emblem of the YMCA is prominently positioned in the top centre.
