Hare, Arthur Ivan (Captain), 1908-1942, MC
Description
Illustrated transcript of three diaries written by Captain Arthur I Hare, 2/43 Battalion, during the Second World War. Entries cover the period December 1940-July 1942 and describes the Easter Battle at Tobruk. He also wrote a number of detailed entries in March 1941 while on leave in Jerusalem. Hare received a Military Cross for action at the Tel el Eisa between July and October 1942 although he did not record any details of these battles. Hare mentions donkey races held by his battalion in February 1941 and attendance at a military court matrial as counsel for a member of his unit,January 1941. Hare was killed at El Alemein in November 1942.
