Balaclava : RAN Boarding Party
Description
Dark blue woollen rib balaclava made from two layers of fabric turned over each other so that the neck edge is continuous. The top of the balaclava is machined in a cross pattern to give shape to the top of the head. The front of the balaclava has three holes, for the eyes and nose/mouth, which are finished in machine buttonhole stitch. There is a manufacturer's label inside the crown giving care instructions, and reading 'PURE WOOL MADE IN CHINA'.

Used by Royal Australian Navy boarding parties during operations in the Persian Gulf during Operation Slipper and in the War on Iraq, 2003.
