Description

Australian Army issue backpack in Disruptive Pattern Camouflage Uniform (DPCU) canvas, as used by RAN Boarding Parties. The pack comprises a single large bag with a nylon zip running across its top. A smaller drawstring pocket, with an overlapping flap secured by 'Fastex' clips, is attached to the front of the pack. Attached to the right hand side is a long vertical oval shaped pocket, with a zipper running around its edge. This pocket also provides access to the main bag. On the rear of the pack are a pair of padded shoulder straps, adjustable by plastic buckles on nylon webbing tapes. There is a nylon web carrying loop sewn between the tops of the shoulder straps, and a stitched-on loop of black elastic attached to the left hand strap. An extra padded cushion is attached to the lower back area with Velcro strips, and further internal padding is provided by a square section of grey foam rubber inserted in a pocket inside the pack. The maker's markings '8465-66-144-3560 (Broad Arrow) TRADE PARTNERS INT. 05 / 99' are stamped in purple ink inside the pack and on the reverse of the lower back pad, and the letters 'PTL' are written in black felt pen on the edge of the top flap.
