Description

Australian military forces Decontamination Kit, Personal No 2 Mk I. The kit comprises a clear plastic puffer bottle with a black flip-top cap, and is wrapped in a paper instruction sheet. The bottle contains pale brown powder, and is unopened in its clear plastic packaging. The kit is stored in a Velcro pouch on the right hand side of the green canvas respirator case, (REL31425.004) along with a sealed package containing Chemical Agent Detecting paper (REL31425.012). Instructions printed on the sheet accompanying the bottle read: 'DECONTAMINATION KIT, PERSONAL, No 2, MK 1 NATO No 4230-99-961-4239 -INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE- SHELTER from the wind SQUEEZE the puffer bottle with the nozzle about six inches from the item. You only need a thin layer of powder. SPREAD the powder as you go, by rubbing the surface with the gloved hand or a used D.K.P. pad. AVOID WASTE This bottle contains enough powder for two applications to socks, boots and webbing. Small equipment: After contamination, powder items you must handle. (The D.K.P. pad should be used for personal weapons). NOTE:- If nozzle is blocked, remove bottle top and clear, e.g. with piece of wire or a twig.' A white sticker affixed to the plastic packaging reads: 'NSN 4230-99-961-4239'.
