Sabrelite Torch : Commander I S Wheeler, HMAS Anzac
'2000 Super SabreLite SUBMERSIBLE' torch issued as part of NBC (Nuclear, Biological and Chemical) survival kit. The torch has an octagonal black plastic body with a black rubber rotary on/off switch surrounding the circular polycarbonate lens. At the rear of the body is a bracket for the black nylon cord lanyard which has a plastic slide. The plastic belt clip normally mounted on the bracket is missing, but the alloy post on which it hinges is still present. In raised letters on the body of the torch are maker's and specification details and safety and care instructions. The body is opened by turning the rotary switch in a counter-clockwise direction until it can be removed. The alloy bulb shield then lifts out, exposing the pink plastic battery tray, which is designed to hold three 'C' Cell batteries.
Royal Australian Navy issue submersible torch, issued to Commander I S Wheeler RAN, Supply Officer of HMAS Anzac during the war on Iraq. The '2000 Super SabreLite' is waterproof and submersible to a depth of 150 metres.
