Smart, John Lewis (Private, b.1915 - d.1975)
Description
Collection relating to the Second World War of NX13187 Private John Lewis Smart, 2/1st Infantry Battalion, prisoner of war in Germany, 1943. Collection consists of a photograph album containing black and white photographs taken inside Stalag XVIIIA where Smart was a prisoner of war, after his capture when Crete fell. Many of the photographs depict prisoner of war concert parties, as well as the camp, other prisoners of war, German guards and Russian prisoners.
