Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of Lieutenant Michael Curran Kennedy, 2/1st Infantry Battalion, Crete, 1941. Collection consists of a handwritten diary, kept in an exercise book, titled 'Retimo Force Diary 20/30 May 1941'. The diary consists of a detailed report written by Kennedy, supplemented by maps (hand-drawn and printed) and printed illustrations. The diary is accompanied by a slightly abridged transcript. Kennedy was taken prisoner of war when Crete fell to the Germans.
