Informal portrait of 2794031 Private (Pte) John Harold Bullman, the son of Mr H E Bullman. A shearer by profession, Bullman completed two years of high school before he enlisted in the Australian Army during the Vietnam War. He subsequently went to Vietnam as a private rifleman with the 1 Australian Reinforcement Unit, which reinforced battalions whose strength had been depleted by casualties. Wounded as a result of a friendly artillery drop short in Phuoc Tuy Province on 20 July 1970. Medically evacuated to 1 Field Hospital, Vung Tau, Bullman died of his wounds the following night.
