Give'em both barrels...
Description
This is a sophisticated poster design by French artist Jean Carlu (1900-1997), who was working in the United States during the Second World War. The poster economically makes clear visual links between the efforts of workers in the factories with those of soldiers fighting on the front line and equates the importance of these roles in defeating Germany. The double meaning implied through the depiction of a rivet gun and a machine gun is reinforced through a easily understood slogan 'Give em' both barrels'.
