Colt Model 1903 Pistol Spare Magazine : Lieutenant General A J Boase, Australian Military Forces
Colt Model 1903 Pistol auxiliary magazine. The magazine is an 8 shot, single row box magazine where the cartridges are fed into the pistol action by a helical spring activated follower. The magazine features a removable floor plate and has inscribed the words CALIBRE.380 on the external surface. The magazine has a blued finish which is partially worn through use.
The Colt Model 1903 Pistol spare magazine belonged to Lieutenant General Allan Joseph Boase who served with distinction with the Australian Army from 1911 to 1951. It was privately purchased by Allan Boase after his service revolver was appropriated by the hospital ship's doctor while being treated for wounds he received on Gallipoli.
