Blazer pocket patch : Sergeant K Vosper, 460 Squadron, RAAF
Embroidered blazer pocket badge showing the emblem of 460 Squadron, RAAF, on a black background. The badge has an embroidered king's crown above a faded blue circle with the words '460 SQUADRON ROYAL AUSTRALIAN AIR FORCE' in bullion thread. Within the circle is a cotton embroidered kangaroo jumping above a boomerang. Beneath the badge is a scroll with the motto 'STRIKE AND RETURN'.
Associated with the service of Sergeant Kenneth Vosper who served in 1475 (3rd Lewisham) Squadron RAF during the second world war. Vosper may also have served in the Bomber Command unit 460 Squadron, RAAF during this period. 460 Squadron was involved in many of the night bombing raids on industrial and civilian targets in Germany. Airmen from 460 Squadron mainly flew Wellington, Halifax and Lancaster aircraft.
