Description
An Avro Lancaster bomber aircraft of 463 Squadron RAAF, with nose art depicting a winged kangaroo holding a bomb. A row of 46 bombs painted beneath the cockpit represent a tally of operations into Europe. The ribbons painted above the operations tally indicate two Distinguished Flying Cross medals were awarded to the pilots of this aircraft. The Lancaster nose art, which decorated nearly all RAAF heavy bombers, was painted by squadron ground staff at Waddington airfield, Britain.
