Description

Nose art depicting "Lonesome Lola" on Avro Lancaster bomber aircraft WS-L (LL-845) of 9 Squadron, RAF. The painted bombs next to "Lola" represent a tally of operations into Europe. This aircraft completed 97 operations. Nose art, which decorated nearly all RAF and RAAF heavy bombers, was painted by squadron ground staff at Waddington airfield, Britain.
