Informal portrait of SX21753 Sergeant (Sgt) Colin Douglas Simper and his wife Irene on their wedding day, 12 January 1941. The couple met at a dance at the Palais, Semaphore Beach, SA. Sgt Simper of the 2/48th Battalion, of Clarendon, SA, also served with the 43/48th Battalion, Citizens Military Forces. He was promoted to lieutenant on 23 October 1943 and died of wounds on 9 June 1945 in Borneo. He is buried at the Tarakan War Cemetery. See also P03039.001.
