Hand tinted portrait of Lieutenant (Lt) Oliver Zachariah Neall DCM, of 2/8 Battalion AIF. Lt Neall of Lake Mundi, VIC, enlisted on 19 December 1939. As a private with 2/8 Battalion he was awarded the Distinguished Comduct Medal (DCM) on 9 May 1941 for his outstanding gallantry in the operations in Cyrenaica on 21 January 1941, which culminated in the capture and occupation of Benghazi. .
