Other Ranks' summer field dress trousers : North Korean People's Army
Brushed cotton twill khaki combat trousers as worn by North Korean soldiers. The trousers have a concealed four button fly with a further black plastic button at the waistband. There are a pair of slash hip pockets, and a single pocket on the right rear, with a pointed flap secured by a concealed plastic button. The seat and knees are reinforced by second layers of fabric, and there are six belt loops at the waist. There is also a pair of self-fabric straps attached to the rear waist, which cross over and can be tied at the front as a belt. The waistband and pocket linings are made of brown polished cotton. The legs are gathered to cuffs at the ankle. The cuffs each have a pair of button holes for fastening, but there is no evidence of buttons having been fitted. The trousers are strongly constructed, although there are a number of loose threads and untidy seams. They show little sign of wear, but there is a greenish stain at the left rear hip.
This garment was captured by Australian forces in Korea during 1950-51.
