Studio portrait of Colonel (Col) Cecil Lucius Strangman, 3 Battalion, AN & MEF - Special Tropical Corps. Col Strangman enlisted as a medical doctor from Adelaide, SA, on 25 November, 1914. He embarked from Sydney on the 28 November, 1914 aboard SS Eastern. Col Strangman served in German New Guinea as a member of the Australian Naval and Military Expedition Force, and was later made Prisoner of War when SS Matunga was captured by the German raider Wolf. He survived the war and returned to Australia on 20 October 1918.
