Belt buckle : Prussian telegraph troops, German Army
Description
A long rectangular brass buckle, with hinged double prong fastening system. Both outer ends of the buckle have a rivetted brass loop type catch. The centre of the buckle bears a white metal disc bearing the Royal Prussian Crown. Around the edge is a wreath of laurel and the motto 'GOTT MIT UNS' (God With Us).
History / Summary
Obtained by 6308 Private Albert Harold Larsen, MM, who served with 7 Battalion, AIF. He enlisted on 26 July 1916 and returned to Australia on 10 April 1919. This type of buckle is said to have been worn by German Army telegraph troops.
