The brim is bound in the same mohair and is fastened to the crown with black cotton tape that threads through three pairs of metal reinforced eyelets. The front of the hat bears an embroidered officer's badge showing a silver anchor and 'WRNS', within a pale blue embroidered laurel wreath. Above is a red velvet and gold embroidered king's crown. The crown is lined with black cotton sateen and the sides of the hat with dark blue silk velvet.
