Watkin Mekometer Mark I
Rectangular Watkin Mekometer Mark I, used for range finding and position location in the field. The Mekometer is manufactured from brass, with the top plate secured by three small brass bolts. There are a pair of reflective glass pieces fitted and secured inside. A hinged vane fitted to the top of the Mekometer is etched with the maker's name. The vane can be flipped up as required and has a white rectangular plastic strip screwed vertically to its centre. There is a round 18mm hole at one end of the Mekometer which can be fitted with one of two brass eye pieces. At the opposite end is a 'T' shaped cutout. There is another rectangular cutout on the side. At the bottom of the casing is a threaded hole where a small turned walnut support handle can be fitted.
Unknown. Mekometers are generally used for range finding and position location in the field. They are also used in conjunction with many types of artillery pieces including the 9.2 inch Howitzer.
