History / Summary

This style of jacket, with yellow piping was also worn by the Nordenfeldt Battery who were also part of the Victorian Cavalry. The brass 'VC' shoulder titles were not always replaced with embroidered 'VNB' or brass 'VHA' titles. The square fronts of this tunic indicate that it is more likely to be a Victorian Cavalry tunic rather than a Nordenfeldt one which tended to have rounded fronts. Although the Victorian Cavalry was formed in 1885, this style of uniform was introduced in 1888. The unit was disbanded in December 1892.
